President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the constitution of the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), two key agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
In the announcement made Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Idris Olorunnimbe was named Chairman of the NCC Board, while Dr. Aminu Maida retains his role as Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the telecoms regulator. Maida was appointed to the role on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, and confirmed by the Senate on November 15, 2023.
Olorunnimbe, who previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee, is credited with driving youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives in Lagos State.

For the USPF, which was set up to drive universal ICT access in rural, unserved and underserved communities, President Tinubu approved a new board chaired by Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
