The Osun State Government has rolled out Imole Wi-Fi, a free public internet service designed to boost digital access and create opportunities across key sectors of the state economy.
The service, launched under the Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy Office, is currently live at selected public locations including the Osun State Library, Alphastart Hub, Osun Mall, Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo Grammar School, and Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy facilities, according to the state government.
Speaking at the unveiling, Governor Ademola Adeleke described Imole Wi-Fi as a transformative digital project for Osun State.

“Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” Adeleke says.
Governor: Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity
“Imole Wi-Fi is a gateway to opportunity. With this public digital infrastructure, we are cutting barriers, connecting people, and driving growth across every sector of Osun’s economy,” Adeleke says.
The state government underscored the potential impact of free public internet on education, healthcare, business, and agriculture.
“Students will be able to study online, join virtual classes, and access research materials. Job seekers and small businesses can apply for opportunities and transact online, while hospitals and clinics may utilise telemedicine and digital health records. Farmers, on the other hand, can access weather forecasts, market pricing updates, and agricultural information,” the government noted.
Mr. Azeez Badmus, Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy, says the initiative represents the first phase of a broader digital strategy that goes beyond internet connectivity.
“The long-term plan,” he says, “is to expand Imole Wi-Fi and introduce sector-specific tools and services that ensure every resident benefits from Osun’s digital future.”
With the launch of Imole Wi-Fi, Osun joins the growing list of Nigerian states exploring public internet as part of digital transformation efforts aimed at bridging connectivity gaps and expanding access to socio-economic opportunities.
