Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has declared 2025 the ‘Year of Technology Advancement’ for Plateau State while unveiling plans to revolutionise the state’s technology sector.
Speaking at the Plateau State Tech Hangout, a government-organised event that brought together key stakeholders, organisations, tech enthusiasts, and citizens, Mutfwang reaffirms his administration’s commitment to driving innovation and fostering a technology ecosystem across the state.
“This is a very important meeting for us. Coming at the end of the year is, for me, very critical that we come together and put our thoughts together because I want to declare 2025 a year of tech advancement in Plateau State,” the Governor says.

According to Mutfwang, his administration is also implementing zero taxes on Right of Way, an initiative to encourage telecommunications companies to expand internet access by removing fees for laying fibre-optic cables and other infrastructure.
Governor Mutfwang: We will make Plateau State a leader in Nigeria’s tech revolution
The Plateau State Governor, who says that the event underscores his vision of transforming the state’s tech sector through better coordination and support, reveals that the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is set to launch a major technology initiative in Plateau by 2025.
He tells attendees that his administration would play an active role in this effort, which aims to support the state’s growing technology community.
Mutfwang says that his vision for Plateau’s tech future is inspired by successful projects like the UNDP’s Timbuktoo initiative in Lagos, as well as his visits to tech hubs in Sweden, both of which have paved the way for partnerships that Plateau, with its growing tech potential, is ready to seize.
“We are digitising governance with real-time performance systems, high-speed digital infrastructure, and improved internet access,” Mutfwang says. Under the plan, Plateaus State is to establish a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre, a facility that will attract companies to outsource services such as customer support and IT solutions, thereby creating jobs and boosting economic activity.
According to Mutfwang, his administration is also implementing zero taxes on Right of Way, an initiative to encourage telecommunications companies to expand internet access by removing fees for laying fibre-optic cables and other infrastructure. Additionally, he noted that plans are underway to develop a cutting-edge technology hub to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the state.
Mutfwang also outlines steps already taken by his administration to enhance governance and integrate technology into state operations, including the establishment of a performance monitoring board in his office for real-time tracking of government activities, the installation of high-speed internet at the Government House to improve operational efficiency, ongoing efforts to advance e-governance with a focus on streamlining processes and improving service delivery, and discussions with IHS aimed at expanding internet access across the state.
Going further, Mutfwang wants the citizens to unite and seize the opportunities that will be created, pointing out the need for a collective effort to achieve technological growth. Acknowledging the past shortcomings in supporting the tech community, he assured that his administration is now positioned to provide the enabling environment needed for innovation to thrive.
“These initiatives will create jobs,” the Plateua State Governor says, “remove barriers, and enable you to dream big. Together, we will make Plateau a leader in Nigeria’s tech revolution.”
