The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says its cybercrime unit has recorded a landmark achievement in its fight against cybercrime with the recovery of over ₦8 billion in 2024.
The NPF’s National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) says that apart from the recovery of over ₦8,821,001,881.80, the unit also recovered $115,237.91 and $84,000.
These funds were restituted to victims of cybercrime, demonstrating the Force’s dedication to justice and citizen protection, the cybercrime unit says in a statement.

The NPF-NCCC says it also conducted strategic operations that led to the arrests and prosecutions of over 751 individuals involved in cybercrime. Additionally, 685 devices, including 467 mobile phones, 137 laptops, 46 routers, four servers, one drone, and four Starlink devices, were also recovered. Further dismantling cybercriminal operations, the unit says it seized 16 houses, 39 plots of land, 14 land documents and 26 vehicles.
“In recognition of its outstanding performance and dedication, the NPF-NCCC has been awarded the title of the Best Cybercrime Unit in Africa for 2024 by the INTERPOL Cybercrime Directorate based in Singapore, securing the top position among 54 participating African countries,“ according to the NPF.
