Rack Centre says it is unveiling a major boost to Nigeria’s digital infrastructure as it prepares to launch a cutting-edge 12MW Tier III data centre hoped to double the nation’s data centre capacity and redefine Lagos as a growing tech powerhouse.
Rack Centre says the new facility, known as LGS2, is standing as the largest live data centre in Nigeria, featuring six data halls with 2MW IT loads each and offering 3,240 square metres of premium colocation space.
The technology company says it is extending formal invitations to Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, to serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning ceremony slated for an undisclosed date in April 2025.

Rack Centre says the new facility, known as LGS2, is standing as the largest live data centre in Nigeria, featuring six data halls with 2MW IT loads each and offering 3,240 square metres of premium colocation space.
Company executives, who paid a courtesy visit to Governor Sanwo-Olu to provide a progress update on the data centre, also discussed strategic partnerships aimed at accelerating digital transformation and innovation across the region. “This facility is representing a significant step forward in bolstering Nigeria’s digital economy, enhancing connectivity, and positioning Lagos as a leading technology hub in Africa,” Rack Centre says.
The LGS2 project, which began with a groundbreaking ceremony on 27 April 2023 officiated by Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State Deputy Governor, is nearing completion. The facility is occupying a 20,000 square metre greenfield site and is standing more than 30 metres above sea level, offering resilience and scalability for the region’s growing demand for data-driven services, according to Rack Centre.
Rack Centre is also aiming to make history with LGS2 by targeting the IFC Edge Green Building Certification, which would make it the first data centre in the EMEA region to achieve this milestone. The move is reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and energy-efficient infrastructure, aligning with global environmental standards.
With LGS2, Rack Centre says it is expanding its footprint in West Africa while providing the digital backbone that supports cloud computing, financial technology, e-commerce, and broader digital services across Nigeria and the continent.
