HTC has just launched its latest flagship smartphone, HTC 10, the first to feature the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) selfie camera.
The Taiwanese phone maker says the HTC 10 is the product of key customer feedback and the company’s “obsessive attention to details.”
Review of the HTC M10
HTC employed a new approach in design with the HTC 10 which gives the body all-metal bold curves. HTC 10 now boasts a slimmer look with the chamfered edges, and the full-glass front merges impeccably into the metal body. The screen size is 5.2 inches with resolution of 1440×2560 pixels.
Camera is where the HTC 10 packs one of its most interesting features with the optically-stabilised, larger aperture f/1.8 lenses on both the 12MP rear camera and the 5MP selfie camera.
The camera also has new larger sensors, 12 million new generation UltraPixels, power laser autofocus powering the main camera and wide angle lens and screen flash on the front camera.
All these features give the phone the ability to take brilliantly sharp, low light and high-resolution photograph with either the main or selfie camera.
Audio quality is another area where HTC 10 tried to hit perfection with an impressive Hi-Res Audio designed to make music sound original.
Accompanying the phone to ensure users have the right hardware to enjoy the original sound is a quality headphone that can take audio from 16-bit to 24-bit, and high-performance digital-to-analogue conversion.
The HTC 10 runs on the Android 6.0.1 (Mashmallow) with HTC Sense. It has the latest Qualcomm snapdragon 820 processor with enhanced LTE and a new PowerBotics system, which improves battery life by 30%, delivering up to two days’ charge.
Security wise, the phone boasts a fingerprint scanner that unlocks in 0.2 seconds and has been designed to recognise the user faster and more accurately over time.
HTC 10 also comes with Boost+ which makes it easier to launch apps. The Boost + App Lock function also adds a bit more security by letting the user lock any app.
The phone packs a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. The battery charges as fast as 50% in 30 minutes and allows up to 27 hours talk time on a full charge.
The phone which comes in both single and dual SIM models has an internal memory of 32/64GB ROM and 4GB RAM. The memory is expandable to 200GB via a microSD card.
The phone maker has allowed the user more control of the HTC 10 smartphone by reducing the number of duplicative and pre-loaded apps and integrated the best of both HTC and Google to create a more streamlined experience that lets users decide what they want on their phone.
And with the phone’s new Freestyle Layout on, the screen interface on HTC 10 is no longer confined to a web of apps. Instead, users can get creative by dragging icons, stickers and widgets anywhere they like.
HTC 10 has been made available in four colour combinations of Carbon Gray, Glacier Silver Topaz Gold and Camellia Red.
