Infinix Mobility, maker of the Infinix Hot S, a new smartphone brand that has taken the African market by storm with its affordable devices.
Tecno Mobile, maker of the Camon C9 is a Chinese device maker that ushered in the era of affordable Android phones in Nigeria with its high end mobile phones.
The Tecno Camon C9 is equipped with biometric iris recognition sensor technology that quickly scans the user’s iris to unlock the phone easily. The Infinix Hot S on its part comes with the device maker’s first Fingerprint Identification technology with which the user can unlock, answer calls and shoot a picture at one touch.
These two device makers have brought a tough competition between their uniquely designed smartphones that were launched at about the same time, leaving consumers at crossroads when it comes to deciding which of the two phones to buy.
The Camon C9 was launched into the Nigerian tech market in June 2016, a month before the launch of the Infinix Hot S. While the Camon C9 features a unique eye print scanner, the Infinix Hot S comes with a simple, easy-to-use fingerprint scanner meticulously worked into the design.

DESIGN
In terms of design, the premium looking Infinix Hot S with curved edges and a uniquely crafted metallic frame sure nailed it. Featuring a compact 5.2-inch display of 148.8 x 73.2 x 8.1mm dimension, the Infinix Hot S is comes in five stunning colors of Champagne Gold, Med Blue, Glossy Silver, Berlin Gray and Rose Gold.
The Camon C9 is 3.5mm slim, slimmer than its predecessor, the Camon C8. The Camon C9 also features a 5.5-inch IPS Touch-screen display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolutions which is larger than that of the Infinix Hot S, with a metallic build and a leathered textured back cover.
CAMERA
The Infinix Hot S features 13MP back camera and 8MP front camera. The Tecno Camon C9 also features 13MP back camera but a higher front camera of 13MP. Both Tecno Camon C9 and Infinix Hot S are camera focused phones as their front and back cameras both possess led flash light.
OPERATING SYSTEM (OS)
Tecno Camon C9 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow HiOS which is Tecno’s customized version of Marshmallow 6.0 whereas Infinix Hot S runs on Android Operating System- 6.0 Marshmallow.
PERFORMANCE
While Infinix says its Hot S is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz Octa-core processor, Tecno says its Camon C9 is powered by 64-bit 1.3GHz Octa-core processor. The two phones feature 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage that can be extended to 128GB and they also utilize the same Mediatek MT6753 chipset. Unlike Camon C9, the Infinix Hot S also has another version with 3GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.
BATTERY
Both devices come with 3000mAh battery. In terms of power durability, Tecno says its Camon C9 can take 75, 000 photos or play videos for 6.5 hours continuously with up to 2 hours standby time while Infinix says it’s 2GB RAM version of Hot S can last up to 27 hours with intense usage and its 3GB RAM version can last up to 15 hours with intense usage.
PRICE
Infinix Hot S is currently sold for N54, 000 while Tecno Camon C9 is currently sold for N64, 000 although the prices of the two phones may differ depending on the store they are purchased and the colour.
