The Rivers State Government has adopted technology to transform healthcare delivery across the state with the two digital services, RIVHEALTH-REG and MEDIXTRAK.
The Rivers State Ministry of Health which recently unveiled two digital health services – the Rivers State Health Regulatory System (RIVHEALTH-REG) and the Hospital Management Information System (MEDIXTRAK), says that they are aimed at improving healthcare delivery to people in the state.
Dr. Adaeze Oreh, River State Commissioner for Health says that these digital services align with the state’s Health4AllRivers strategy, focusing on health information systems and data management, as well as health system leadership and governance.
These strategies are two out of the seven pillars of the Health4AllRivers plan, according to the Commissioner, who adds that they set the stage for “transformative changes informed by evidence, and responsible and responsive leadership to greatly improve the standards and quality of health care every citizen consumes from every legitimate provider of healthcare services.”
After successful pilot testing in select healthcare facilities, the digital services are now ready for “scale-up,” Dr Oreh explains.
According to the Rivers State Ministry of Health, RIVHEALTH-REG is a digital platform designed to streamline the regulation of healthcare facilities in Rivers State. Key features include online registration for healthcare facility proprietors, ensuring compliance with established guidelines, verifying healthcare providers, and improving communication between regulators and facilities.
“This digital tool,” according to the government, ” will empower healthcare facilities to fulfill their statutory responsibilities more effectively, ultimately benefiting the people of Rivers State.”
On the other hand, RIV-MEDIXTRAK is a customised digital system that manages hospital service delivery functions and administration systems. It offers features such as digital record keeping, automated routine tasks for increased efficiency, and optimized resource allocation. By digitizing these functions, the Rivers State Government says, RIV-MEDIXTRAK aims to reduce errors, improve patient care, and enhance overall hospital management.
