HOSTAFRICA, a leading web-hosting company in South Africa, has completed the acquisition of GO54, formerly known as WhoGoHost, a major player in Nigeria’s web hosting market.

The acquisition of the former WhoGoHost, with a domain market share in Nigeria exceeding 20%, marks a significant milestone in HOSTAFRICA’s strategic expansion across the continent, and reinforces its commitment to empowering African businesses through advanced technology, the companies say in a statement seen by Technology Times.

GO54, established in 2007 by Opeyemi Awoyemi while he was still a student at Obafemi Awolowo University, has grown to become one of Nigeria’s most prominent web hosting companies. The company manages over 100,000 domains and has been instrumental in providing various digital services, including cloud hosting and domain registration. The rebranding from WhoGoHost to GO54 in 2024 was part of its strategy to broaden its pan-African reach.

HostAfrica: GO54 deal elevates hosting experience for customers in Nigeria

Founded in 2016 by Michael Osterloh and two experienced entrepreneurs, HOSTAFRICA has rapidly emerged as a key player in Africa’s digital landscape. The company offers a comprehensive range of hosting solutions, including websites, e-commerce platforms, and virtual private servers (VPS), serving over 70,000 customers across the continent. HOSTAFRICA entered the Nigerian market in 2021 under the brand DomainKing.ng, introducing innovative hosting solutions tailored for local businesses.-

The acquisition of GO54 enhances HOSTAFRICA’s presence in Nigeria and positions it as a dominant force in the country’s tech sector. By integrating GO54’s local expertise and infrastructure into its broader network, HOSTAFRICA says it aims to offer improved technology and support to its customers. This strategic move is expected to deliver robust and reliable solutions to businesses of all sizes across Nigeria.

Michael Osterloh, CEO of HOSTAFRICA, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition: “We are thrilled to welcome GO54 to the HOSTAFRICA family officially. This partnership has been carefully planned with the GO54 team. We are eager to work together to elevate the hosting experience for customers in Nigeria and beyond.”

With the integration of GO54 into HOSTAFRICA’s operations, customers can expect significant enhancements in service delivery. The acquisition promises advanced hosting services, scalable solutions, and more responsive customer support. This transition is designed to ensure minimal disruption while maximizing benefits for existing GO54 clients.

The collaboration aims to provide clients with cutting-edge technology that meets the growing demands of digital businesses. As more companies seek reliable web hosting solutions, this acquisition positions HOSTAFRICA to better serve the evolving needs of Nigerian enterprises.

The company says that the acquisition was finalised in January following regulatory approvals and due diligence processes. Both companies have committed to a transparent integration process that prioritises uninterrupted service for customers during this transition period.

This approach, HOSTAFRICA says, not only reassures existing clients, but also sets a precedent for future acquisitions within the tech industry. By focusing on seamless integration and customer satisfaction, the hosting company aims to solidify its reputation as a trusted provider of web hosting services.
