Samsung Electronics is launching Gemini Live, a next-generation visual AI experience designed to transform how users interact with their smartphones—starting with the flagship Galaxy S25 series.
From April 7, 2025, Galaxy S25 users across key markets are beginning to access Gemini Live at no additional cost, the tech giant confirms in a statement seen by Technology Times. The feature enables real-time, conversational interaction with the smartphone based on what the camera is seeing—ushering in a new chapter for mobile artificial intelligence (AI).
“With this new visual capability, Galaxy S25 series brings next-generation AI experiences to life, setting new standards for how users engage with the world through their devices,” Jay Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Office, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics says.

By simply pressing and holding the side button, users are activating a powerful visual assistant that understands their environment in real time—offering help with tasks like outfit coordination, wardrobe organisation, or smart suggestions while browsing online stores.

“Together with Google, we are marking a bold step toward the future of mobile AI, delivering smarter interactions that are deeply in sync with how we live, work and communicate,” Kim adds.
Samsung says Gemini Live operates like a virtual companion—seeing what the user sees through the camera, analysing the input instantly, and responding conversationally. “With the ability to see what the user sees and respond in real time, Galaxy S25 series feels like a trusted friend who’s always ready to help,” the company notes.

For African smartphone users—especially the growing population of mobile-first consumers across Nigeria and the continent—Gemini Live could signal a shift in how people engage with their devices for everyday problem-solving and lifestyle management.
Although Samsung is not confirming whether Gemini Live will extend to other Galaxy models, the company is positioning the launch as a major leap forward in mobile AI.
As AI continues to redefine user expectations in the smartphone space, Samsung says its real-time, camera-powered assistant is setting a new pace—offering a glimpse into a future where devices understand not just what we type or say, but also what we see.
