Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring Corning Gorilla Armor 2, a new scratch-resistant technology that enhances durability in mobile devices.

According to Samsung, this innovation combines exceptional toughness with enhanced clarity, offering users an improved mobile experience.

Samsung says its decision to include Gorilla Armor 2 in the Galaxy S25 Ultra underscores the ongoing partnership between Samsung and Corning, emphasising their mutual dedication to innovation and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra engineered to withstand the rough

Samsung says that Gorilla Armor 2 is a significant leap in glass ceramic technology, combining unparalleled toughness with enhanced clarity. Designed specifically for mobile devices, it is engineered to withstand the rough, unpredictable nature of daily life, making it the perfect addition to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s front display.

Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team of Mobile Experience Business at Samsung Electronics, expresses the importance of the collaboration with Corning. “The Galaxy S25 Ultra represents significant progress toward providing our users with the most resilient mobile experience yet. Our partnership with Corning continues to push boundaries in display performance, ensuring that we meet the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.”

Compared to the first-generation Corning Gorilla Armor, Kwangjin says the Gorilla Armor 2 offers increased durability, particularly in drop tests. Devices equipped with Gorilla Armor 2 have shown superior resistance to damage, such as breakage, when dropped on rough, challenging surfaces. In fact, in Corning’s lab tests, Gorilla Armor 2 survived drops of up to 2.2 meters on a concrete-like surface a remarkable improvement over other glass materials that failed after just one meter.

Additionally, Gorilla Armor 2 boasts anti-reflective properties that dramatically reduce surface reflections in both indoor and outdoor lighting, improving the display contrast ratio. This ensures that users can enjoy a crystal-clear viewing experience in all lighting conditions.

David Velasquez, Vice President and General Manager of Corning Gorilla Glass, emphasises the continued partnership with Samsung. “Samsung and Corning have a long history of collaborating to provide consumers with the most advanced and innovative technologies. With Gorilla Armor 2, we offer consumers an unparalleled user experience with the first durable, optically advanced glass ceramic cover material ever used on a Galaxy mobile device.”
