Samsung’s Accessibility Sync feature will streamline the setup process by allowing users to transfer accessibility settings from their smartphones to home appliances by using Voice ID, according to technology company, Samsung.
The technology company says that the feature will eventually sync accessibility settings with each user’s voice, automatically applying personalised configurations across devices.
At IFA 2024, Samsung introduced Voice ID, which the technology company touts as “a game changer in smart home technology that will offer personalised experiences by distinguishing between family members’ voices.”
Samsung: Voice ID is a game changer for smart homes
Samsung showcased its latest AI-powered home appliances designed to make life more convenient for users through inclusive technology at the IFA 2024, Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show held in Berlin, Germany.
At IFA 2024, Samsung introduced Voice ID, which the technology company touts as “a game changer in smart home technology that will offer personalised experiences by distinguishing between family members’ voices.”
Home appliances that support Voice ID will be able to understand voice commands from users and provide customised solutions based on schedules, interests, health conditions and other personal characteristics, Samsung says of the innovation.
For example, Voice ID will recognize a senior user’s voice, recommend dishes depending on their diet and find relevant recipes when they ask about dinner.
In the future, Samsung home appliances will be able to recognize each family member’s voice, perform voice commands, sync accessibility settings across devices and support other advanced capabilities, according to the technology company’s outlook.
The Voice Guide feature, which provides audible descriptions of an appliance’s status and functions, will be rolled out to more products with displays, further enhancing accessibility.
Auto Open Door for Convenience
Auto Open Door feature, currently available on select refrigerators, washing machines, and ovens, makes it easier to operate these appliances. For example, the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub opens with a gentle touch, while the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo automatically opens its door at the end of a cycle, according to Samsung.
Samsung says it will continue to expand its AI-driven features to enhance accessibility, in line with its “AI for All” vision, pushing the boundaries of inclusivity in home technology.
