Samsung Electronics is unveiling the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro, rugged new entrants into Nigeria’s enterprise device scene that are being engineered to keep frontline workers connected, productive and protected — from office floors to open fields.

Samsung announces that the Pro-series launch is delivering the muscle and brains that high-pressure industries across Africa are increasingly demanding, with advanced 5G connectivity, enhanced memory, and AI-powered tools tucked into toughened exteriors that shrug off water, dust, and high-impact drops.

“At Samsung, we understand that frontline professionals need technology that adapts to their fast-paced and demanding work environments,”Jerry Park, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Mobile B2B Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics says.

Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro: Built for tough life

Samsung states that both the XCover7 Pro smartphone and Tab Active5 Pro tablet are IP68-rated for water and dust resistance and certified to MIL-STD-810H military standards, meaning they are ready for extreme temperatures, drops, and rough handling.

The Galaxy XCover7 Pro is rolling out with a stereo speaker system armed with anti-feedback tech—crucial for communication in often noisy marketplaces, warehouses or job sites. Meanwhile, the Tab Active5 Pro comes with a Dual Hot-Swap battery system and a massive 10,100mAh capacity, ensuring all-day performance even during power cuts or in remote locations.

For Nigeria’s hygiene-conscious frontline environments like hospitals and food services, both devices are being tested to withstand regular cleaning with common workplace sanitisers, Samsung notes. The S Pen on the Tab Active5 Pro is also usable in wet conditions, keeping productivity waterproof.

Packed with Enterprise Power Tools On the inside, Samsung is going all out. The devices are powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, and feature AI-enhanced capabilities such as Circle to Search, Object Eraser, AI Select, and Read Aloud—tools that are helping workers search, edit, and consume content more intuitively.

Other features supporting digital productivity across Nigerian and African businesses include Wi-Fi 6E, dual SIM (pSIM + eSIM) options, front-facing NFC, and Samsung DeX, enabling desktop-like functionality on the go.

With Samsung Knox Vault, users are also getting top-tier device security, alongside real-time kernel protection and DEFEX—offering the kind of protection demanded by enterprises handling sensitive information.

“The Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro combine ruggedized durability, enterprise-grade security, seamless connectivity and intuitive AI-driven features,” Park adds, positioning the devices as a strategic fit for Nigerian organisations “operating efficiently in harsh conditions while maximising productivity and minimising downtime.”

A Growing Market, A Rugged Response

With Samsung citing industry forecasts that rugged smartphones will hit 4.46 million units and rugged tablets 1.89 million units globally by 2028, the Korean tech giant is placing a firm bet on Africa’s accelerating demand for durable, intelligent mobile tools.

From Lagos to Lusaka, Dakar to Durban, frontline professionals are being promised a future where broken devices and unreliable networks no longer slow down progress. The Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro are launching globally from April 2025, and are expected to become a solid fixture in Africa’s digital transformation journey.
