The National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC) has incorporated a barcode into its service charter in what marks a significant step toward modernising its delivery system, according to the government agency.
This development was announced during the inauguration of the NSIWC SERVICOM Unit/Committee and the launch of the new Service Charter in Abuja.
Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, who commends the Commission’s effort for the innovation says that it would further enhance service delivery at the government agency.
“Today’s inauguration of the parastatals SERVICOM committee and launching of the Service Charter with a bar code,” Akajemeli, “marks a critical step and a loud statement in an attempt to further strengthen the service delivery initiatives in National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission.”

With the barcode, she says that Nigerian workers now have access to information about their rights and wages which can be compared to what is available to their counterparts in other countries. Scanning the barcode with a digital device allows users to access details about the services and policies of the NWISC, as well as global information.
The barcode feature provides global access to the service charter, aligning with SERVICOM’s commitment to real-time service delivery and improved transparency. This digital approach supports the Commission’s goal of integrating technology to improve the efficiency and quality of public sector services, according to NSIWC.

She assured that the commitment shown by the commission at the event will continue, as SERVICOM aims to manage public service delivery expectations effectively.
According to Akajemeli, SERVICOM serves as a solution centre for Federal Government service initiatives, which falls in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She implored the Commission’s management and staff to build teamwork and collaboration to ensure that they provide quality services to Nigerians.
Also present at the event was Ekpo Nta, Chairman/CEO of NSIWC who praised SERVICOM for bringing service delivery to global standards. The adoption of the barcode allows the Salaries and Wages Commission to meet up with best practices around the world.
Nta expressed his willingness to support the unit, stating that it shows SERVICOM’s commitment to ensuring that services are delivered to Nigerians effectively and efficiently.
