Microsoft says Skype for Web now have features to let users call mobile phones and landlines straight from Skype, watch YouTube video without having to leave Skype.

The company in a blogpost declared that, Skype for Web lets users get straight to Skype conversation from any computer whether you’re using a shared computer that doesn’t have Skype downloaded, or you just prefer using a web version instead of a downloaded app.

“We’ve been listening to you to ensure we’re focused on bringing you the important features first’’ Microsoft said.

The features Microsoft is introducing to Skype for Web includes allowing users to call mobile phones and landlines and saving money in the process. All users need is a little credit or a subscription to start making affordable international calls from Skype. Once you’ve signed in to Skype for Web, simply click on the call phones tab, select your destination, dial the number you’d like to call and then hit the call button.

Another is being able to watch YouTube without leaving Skype. The company said it has recently improved the way URLs show up in Skype for Web that now include an image from the webpage. Additionally, if someone posts a YouTube video link in Skype for Web, you will be able to watch it directly in Skype. You get all the same volume and full-screen controls you have in YouTube, but you won’t have to open a new browser window to watch the video, it will instantly play directly in Skype.

Interestingly, Skype for Web users can even add new people who are not on Skype to a conversation. ‘’ Now we’ve brought this feature to Skype for Web, so you can create a chat with anyone by pressing +New and then ‘Share conversation.’ We’ll then give you a unique conversation URL that you can share however you want’’

According to Microsoft, anyone that clicks the URL shared by you can join your chat; it is perfect for inviting your people who are not currently a Skype contact to your chat. You don’t even need to know if they already use Skype because they can join your conversation as a guest using Skype for Web.

What’s more is that Skype now has notification. Users will be able to receive notification for IM, call or a friend sending you a picture even when you are on another browser tab or another app.
