Sir Goffery Ohuanbuwa, Chairman of Gospell Digital Technology Ltd, a licensed set up box manufacturer, has said his company is “ready” for the Abuja digital broadcasting switch over.
Ohuanbuwa disclosed this when Mallam Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, Director General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) visited the factory, located in the Calabar Free trade Zone.
The Gospell Chairman said that part of the preparation for the Abuja switch, some 200,000 Set-Top-Boxes would be made available for the project. The company’s factory has the capacity to produce 100,000 Set-Top-Boxes monthly, he said.
While taking the DG on a tour of the company’s facilities, Ohuanbuwa showed him some of the Set-Top-Boxes that were assembled and packaged by the company.
He expressed his appreciation to the DG and his team for the visit and assured the broadcast regulator of the company’s readiness for the Digital Switch over in Abuja.
Kawu thanked the Chairman of Gospell Digital Technology Ltd. for the invitation and noted that the Commission now has a clearer picture of what the company was doing.
The visit of the NBC DG to Gospell Digital Technology Ltd. is part of the Commission’s preparation towards the June 2017 Digital switch over as agreed among countries in the West African sub-region.
