Tecno Mobile kicked off 2018 with the launch of Tecno Camon CM,  a mid-range device that features the 18:9 aspect ratio for full-view display.

Regular smartphones come with 16:9 screen ratio, which means significant side, top, and bottom bezels. But with the 18:9 ratio, you will get a larger display on a smaller body.

Why  18:9 ratio?

There are a few reasons why Tecno has opted to switch to the new 18:9 ratio over the traditional smartphone ratio of 16:9.

While it makes sense for a TV to stick with the 16:9 ratio as the majority of video content is produced to be viewed horizontally, a lot of the content we consume on smartphones today is vertical. We’re now so used to scrolling on our smart devices that it’s become second nature.

The spanner in the works is that smartphones just keep getting bigger while our hands are staying the same size. Going any bigger than 5.5 inches on the a 16:9 ratio phone just makes it difficult to hold one-handed.

Design and Display

Tecno Camon CM is one good looking beauty of a smartphone with a polycarbonate build. Since the advent of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and other high end flagships there has been an increased number of bezel-less display in the smartphone market as young brands are trying to create a cheaper alternative or wannabe device that is available for low budget buyers.

Tecno equips its new smartphone with an HD+ display which is in par with other smartphones in its category. Here, you have an impressive high screen to body ratio thanks to the minimal bezel. The Tecno Camon CM comes with a 5.7-inch 1440 x 720 pixels display with a pixel density of 282 ppi and a colourful display at that.

Battery and Camera

Not much is on the Tecno Camon CM in terms of battery capacity as it comes with a 3, 000mAh Li-Po battery. The battery is also removable so you can always swap it out if you want to which is not something you see every day in recent smartphones.

If you’re a picture enthusiast or you intend to get a mid range  smartphone for Snapchat or Instagram and other related social media activities, this one the smartphones to consider. Although there’s no comparison with other high-end smartphones. The Tecno Camon CM comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera as well, both with LED flash.

Camon CM supports fingerprint quick selfie, you don’t need to find the camera shutter on-screen, just use your fingerprint on back cover.

Processor

Tecno CM  runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat + HIOS 2 making  it the second Tecno phone to come with Google latest operating system. It is also loaded with Google Assistant, Google Allows and other Google apps. Camon CM is powered by a Mediatek MT6737  processor which is Quad-core in nature.

Memory and Storage
Tecno Camon CM RAM memory is peaked at 2GB RAM coupled with a storage memorex of 16GB expandable up to 128GB via SdCard.
