The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has called on teachers across the state to intensify the use of technology in classrooms as part of efforts to raise education standards.
Mrs. Victoria Mopelola Peregrino, Chairman of TESCOM, made the call during a courtesy visit by the newly inaugurated executives of the Lagos branch of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
“Continuous teachers’ development, effective communication, and the adoption of technology in modern education are very important,” Peregrino says.

She congratulates the union leaders on their election and urges them to sustain the cordial relationship between TESCOM and the NUT, which she describes as free of unnecessary controversies. Peregrino further commends the union for addressing sectoral challenges and encourages it to continue striving for excellence.
The TESCOM chairman also calls on the union to show patience and empathy in accommodating newly recruited teachers. She reminds members of the Counselling Unit in the Teachers’ Welfare Department, which provides support for both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Other members of the commission echo her call for collaboration. Dr. Segun Agbaje, TESCOM Commissioner III representing Epe Division, commends the union for its cordial relations with the board and assures that his office, alongside others, remains open and approachable.
In the same vein, Mrs. Abimbola Idowu, Commissioner IV representing Badagry Division, reiterates the commission’s commitment to protecting teachers. She urges the NUT leadership to sensitise members against age falsification and to support colleagues financially, pointing out that financial embarrassment remains a key challenge among teachers.
