Tizeti has rolled out over 100,000 meters of fibre optic cable across Nigeria and Ghana as part of the West African internet service provider’s FreeFiber.Africa initiative.
The fibre rollout milestone marks a significant milestone in its mission to deliver ultra-fast, unlimited internet access to the region, according to Tizeti.
The internet service provider (ISP) says it aims to revolutionise connectivity in key cities including Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Accra, with plans to expand to additional urban centers in the coming year.

Kendall Ananyi, the CEO of Tizeti, stated that the company had installed nearly 150,000 meters of fibre infrastructure across Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Accra. He highlighted that the ISP has achieved at least 80% penetration in all of these communities. Furthermore, he mentioned that Vintage Park has reached a 100% penetration rate, while in Golden Park and Inoyo, the penetration rate exceeds 80%, significantly surpassing the industry average of 30%.

“On 12/12/2024, its CEO says, “Tizeti made history with the launch of FreeFiber.Africa, setting the stage for a new era of ultra-fast, unlimited fiber internet in West Africa. Today, we are proud to announce that we have crossed our first major milestone and this is just the beginning!”
According to Ananyi, Tizeti has been a pioneer in bridging the digital divide in West Africa by providing affordable and reliable internet services. The company uses solar-powered base stations to deliver unlimited internet, and its latest fiber initiative represents a major step forward in its goal to empower communities and drive innovation.
The ISP has made significant strides in expanding its fiber network across these cities:
- 1. Lagos: Extensive coverage is available in areas such as Ikate, Agungi, Lekki Phase 1, and Ajah, with further expansion underway.
- 2. Port Harcourt: The network is growing across Woji.
- 3. Accra: Aggressive expansion is ongoing across East Legon Hills and beyond.
The company says the strategic rollout guarantees residents and businesses in these areas access to the fastest fibre network in the region, and are designed to meet future demands.
The FreeFiber service offers several benefits to users:
- 1. Speed and Reliability: Delivering speeds of over 1Gbps, which are 50 times faster than existing offerings and 10 times faster than 5G or LEO satellite services.
- 2. Free Installation and First Month: New users enjoy free installation and a complimentary first-month subscription.
- 3. VoIP Benefits: Includes Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone numbers and free calls to multiple international destinations, enhancing global connectivity.
- 4. Referral Program: Customers can benefit from free setup and subscription for the first five months by referring new users.
Tizeti says its efforts are part of a broader strategy to address the digital divide in Africa. The continent faces significant challenges in connectivity, with limited infrastructure and high costs being major barriers. By building digital infrastructure and providing affordable internet services, Tizeti says it is contributing to financial, health, educational, and economic inclusion across West Africa.
