The Ministry of Communication says that 20 Nigerian girls have been chosen to undergo a two-weeks intensive training on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) in China.
The girls emerge as the overall best participants at the Ministry “1000 Girls ICT Program” will be trained on different fields in ICT at Huawei Headquarters, Beijing.
The training is designed to further improve the knowledge of the girls who are graduates of various disciplines from Nigerian universities on ICT and also to launch them into the emerging ICT industry in Nigeria.
While addressing the girls in his office, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, congratulated them for their wonderful performance in the ICT program for Nigerian girls.
He urged them to take advantage of the training to prepare for higher degrees in the field, adding that he hopes the China training would equip them for full participation in the nation’s emerging ICT industry.
The Minister also expressed appreciation to Huawei Technologies for partnering with his ministry to provide capacity building program for the Nigerian girls.
He further urged the girls to serve as good ambassadors of the country while he also warned them against any behavior that would tarnish the image of the country. He also promised them a bright future at the end of the program.
Miss Koretimi Oluwakemi, on behalf of the girls, thanked the Ministry and Huawei Technologies for creating the opportunity for them to participate in the “1ooo Girls ICT Program.”
She promised that they would approach the training program with seriousness and also assured the Minister that they will be good representatives of the country.
