Twitter mute has officially gone live as a feature that allows users on web as well as mobile to silence another Twitter user.
In its official blog Twitter wrote, “Today we’re beginning to introduce a new account feature called mute to people who use our iPhone and Android apps and twitter.com. Mute gives you even more control over the content you see on Twitter by letting you remove a user’s content from key parts of your Twitter experience.”
People will still be able to see, “re-tweet,” or comment on Twitter posts of those who have muted them, but the person doing the muting will not be looped into the activity.
“Mute gives you even more control over the content you see on Twitter by letting you remove a user’s content from key parts of your Twitter experience,” Twitter added.
In order to mute a user, tap more and then mute @username. To mute someone from their profile page, one has to tap the gear icon and then choose mute @username. You may not be able to use the mute button immediately as Twitter will start rolling out the new mute feature in the coming days.
