United Africa Company (UAC) has raised a new technology unit, 1879 Tech Hub, envisioned to drive digital transformation across diverse operations of the iconic business conglomerate in Nigeria.
To lead this initiative, the conglomerate has appointed Anthony Eigbe as Vice President of Creative and Communications to lead the team at 1879 Tech Hub that will focus on integrating technology into the UAC operations across various sectors, the company says.

“In my role,” Eigbe says while writing on LinkedIn, “I will be operating out of a newly formed sub-unit, 1879 Tech Hub; a collection of subject-matter experts working across 4 verticals ( Business Tech, Digital Innovation, Tech Academy & Creative Comms).” The Hub, Eigbe says, aims to deliver on UAC’s vision of fully becoming tech-compliant.
“This new role marks a deliberate continuation of my creative evolution. It’s been a dream of mine to experience firsthand a large-scale manufacturing business value chain and see in real-time the direct impact marketing plays,” he shared.
The 1879 Tech Hub will collaborate closely with UAC’s key business units, including CAP, QSR, Foods, Grand Cereal, Grand Oil, and UAC HoldCo.
Eigbe brings a wealth of experience in the creative and communications industry. The first Cannes-winning creative director in West Africa break experiences from previous roles that include:
- Creative Director at X3M Ideas, where he worked from January 2022 to July 2024.
- Deputy Creative Director at X3M Business Growth and Leadership from October 2019 to January 2022.
- Group Head of Copy at Insight Communications Limited from January 2017 to October 2019.
Notable brands he has worked with include Pepsi, H2Oh!, Mirinda, and Intel, where he was instrumental in launching and sustaining Intel’s communication in Nigeria and across Africa. He has also contributed to campaigns for Promasidor brands, P&G, and Grand Oak.
