Etisalat Nigeria says it has presented cheques of N100,000 each to ten undergraduates of the University of Lagos under its Etisalat Merit Awards Scheme.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rahamon Bello, who was represented by Professor Gabriel Babawale, Dean, Student Affairs Division, thanked the mobile phone company for maintaining its Corporate Social Responsibility, which has now entered its its fourth year.
He then congratulated the beneficiaries who were found worthy of the honours in their various departments and faculties.
According to the VC, the N100,000 given to each of the beneficiaries is meant for educational support and must be used judiciously.
Oyetola Oduyemi, Manager, Corporate & Social Responsibility, Etisalat Nigeria, explained that the merit award programme was spread across 20 universities through the selection of 10 students in each institution based on Merit and Best Performance in 200 and 300 levels.
Among the beneficiaries are Amuda Tope Victor (Electrical & Electronics Engineering), Scale Abimbola Omotayo (Accounting), Dosunmu Abiodun Idris (Electrical & Electronics Engineering), Bello Abdul-Wahab (Computer Science), Akeju Fatai Adekunle (Computer Science), Omitiran Demilade Micheal (Computer Science) and Ifedayo Oluwadamilola Boluwatife (Computer Science).
