The University of Lagos (UNILAG) says it plans to upgrade the wireless internet service at its main campus in Akoka following a donation towards the improvement of the institution’s tech facilities.
Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, says that the upgrade of the wireless internet service is a donation of Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu at the instance of Senator (Dr.) Prince Lanre Tejuoso, the Prochancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council with the support of the African Center of Excellence Drug Herbal Medicine Development and Regulatory Science (ACEDHARS), UNILAG.
The planned upgrade which will ensure optimum wireless internet services across all locations including residential areas of the campus, the UNILAG VC says, underscores the management’s commitment towards building a world-class University by pursuing activities aimed at the development of infrastructure at all its campuses.
This latest development, Ogundipe adds, comes on the heels of the commissioning of a 2-GigaByte (GB) Bandwidth Capacity Data Center at the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba Campus of the University on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

According to him, the project tagged “UNILAG Comprehensive Network Design” will cover the provision, sustenance, management and protection of critical infrastructure in the area of internet network services.
The UNILAG VC says that the project is a strategic infrastructural development aimed at boosting the position of the University as a world-class hub for teaching, learning and research.
Ogundipe expressed gratitude to the donors and facilitators of the project including the Prochancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Distinguished Senator (Dr) Prince Lanre Tejuoso; Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu, and the ACEDHARS team led by Dr Bolanle Ade-Ademilua.
