Governor Bago, along with his counterparts from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), met with Dr Ahunna Eziakonwa, Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa at the UNDP. “Gov. In another meeting organised by the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG), the Governor participated in discussions on how digital technology can enhance outcomes in health, education, gender equality, climate action, and Resilience City projects.
Bago engaged in talks on human capital development and the integration of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into medium and long-term plans at the “sub-national” level. The talks focused on the use of technology and data as a means to improve the availability and prioritisation of resources for this sustainable development.
According to Ibrahim, the meetings reveal the importance of technology in transforming governance and development in every sector across Nigeria, while Governor Bago’s advocacy for tech hubs and digital solutions highlights the increasing recognition of technology as a tool for achieving inclusive development, improving service delivery, and addressing issues such as insecurity and inequality. The Governor’s participation also reaffirms Niger State’s commitment to using technology to achieve sustainable economic growth, he added.
The UNDP on the other hand, plays a crucial role in the meeting by providing technical expertise, resources, and support for implementing sustainable development initiatives, showing the need for world partnerships.
