In this interview with ITU TV, Omobola Johnson, Minister of Communication Technology for Nigeria and m-Powering Development Initiative Advisory Board Member of ITU talks about how the country will leverage its ubiquitous mobile telephony connections to drive development.
The m-Powering Development Initiative aims to capitalise on the availability and reach of mobile networks to strengthen the economic circumstances of individuals and communities, and to offer new opportunities to improve health, education, agriculture, trade and commerce.
The initiative aims to extend the benefits of mobile technology to all strata of society, in order to build a truly inclusive information society, with special focus on remote rural and underserved areas.
