Wireless Wireless (Vitel) has commenced a number reservation on the 0712 number series ahead of the commercial rollout of its Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in Nigeria.

Vitel has announced what the promoters of the mobile phone service celebrate as the “groundbreaking achievement as the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in Nigeria to be issued a mobile number series by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), marking a significant milestone in the country’s telecommunications industry.”

Kenneth Nwabueze, Chairman and CEO of Vitel Wireless says that apart from being the first MVNO in Nigeria with an NCC-issued mobile number series, the company has also secured an international routing code, regulatory compliance and launch readiness from the telecoms industry regulator.

Vitel Wireless Limited, one of the 46 companies issued MVNO licences by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), was authorised in the MVNO Tier 3 service category.

“This is a landmark achievement not only for Vitel Wireless but also for the Nigerian telecommunications sector as a whole,” Nwabueze, Chairman and CEO of Vitel Wireless. “Our team is excited to be at the forefront of this new era, bringing innovative telecoms services to Nigerians and ensuring connectivity for all. We are committed to providing reliable and cost-effective solutions that will drive Nigeria’s digital economy forward.”

Kenneth Nwabueze, Chairman and CEO of Vitel Wireless.

On its website, the MVNO has flagged off a number reservation offer that will allow prospective subscribers to either choose a regular number or premium one at price points ranging from ₦1500 to ₦45000 per line.

“Thank you for choosing Vitel Wireless, a new type of GSM company. We promise to do things differently. We will allocate your choice of your numbers and deliver the physical SIM card to you very soon, according to a sales pitch on the company’s website..

Vitel will also piggyback on the MTN Nigeria, which will open the new MVNO to the nationwide reach of the nation’s largest mobile network operator by subscriber numbers and market share.
