Web4Africa, a web hosting company and accredited domain registrar says it has extended its web hosting infrastructure to Nigeria under plans to offer more to the local Internet community.
Web4Africa says it will be offering its regular services that includes shared web hosting, Reseller hosting, Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting, and cloud hosting, from its West African network Point-of-Presence, a Tier-III data centre sited in Lagos, Nigeria.
The web hosting company says it is peering openly at the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), with 100Mbps connectivity to all the leading operators openly available at the exchange point in Lagos.
With access to clean, 100% stable and redundant power supply, as well as top-notch physical security from the Nigeria data centre, Web4Africa says it will offer its very best experience to residents of Nigeria.
Commenting on this, Oluniyi Ajao, Managing Director of Web4Africa says that, “we are in Africa and Africa is in us. We are committed to bringing world-class web hosting to Africa and Africans, meeting the needs of businesses and other entities. Our extension to Lagos Nigeria is one of the first steps towards this goal.”
According to him, residents of Nigeria would have access to low-latency and high-speed data hosting services with varying service options targeted at developers, SMEs, NGOs, corporates and government departments.
Web4Africa also recently announced its acquisition of the web hosting and domain names services of Alireta Nigeria Limited (Alireta.com), to boost its portfolio in the Nigerian Domain Name System (DNS)
Alireta, before its acquisition, offered domain registration and web hosting services to residents of Nigeria at prices much lower than what was obtainable within the country, and had constantly remained among the top ten Nigerian web hosts since inception in 2003.
After this acquisition, Web4Africa targeted the Nigerian market via www.web4africa.com.ng.
Before the local peering, Web4Africa served existing clients from its own server hardware in a Tier-III data centre in South Africa, powered by its own multi-homed resilient IP network and currently peers openly at 1Gbps on the Johannesburg Internet Exchange (JINX).
Established in 2002, Web4Africa is a pan-African web hosting company and ICANN Accredited Domain Registrar offering web presence services to clients worldwide.
