WhatsApp active users hit half a billion

Mobile messaging company, WhatsApp has revealed that its active and regular users around the world are now 500 million.

The US based company had in a statement hinted that users of its cross-platform mobile messaging app had grown fastest in Brazil, India, Mexico and Russia in the last few months.

Users now share more than 700 million photos and 100 million videos everyday on the mobile messaging service.

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows users to send and receive messages on their mobile devices without paying. The app is available on iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, Android and Nokia.
