Instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, has announced that one billion people are now active on its platform. With this feat, nearly one out of seven people on the surface of the Earth use WhatsApp.
The WhatsApp community has more than doubled since after joining Facebook in 2014. Since then, WhatsApp has added the ability to call and dropped subscription fee, making the platform completely free.
“Next, we’re going to work to connect more people around the world and make it easier to communicate with businesses,” says Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder.
