WiFi Master Key, an app that lets users crowdsource login credentials for WiFi hotspots, now has more than 800 million users globally, extending its lead over other popular tool applications.

App Annie, a business intelligence company also recently named WiFi Master Key a top app of the month, after the app surged to number 5 in the global top 10 by downloads on iOS and Google Play combined in February.

App Annie says WiFi Master Key has added a new dimension to the sharing economy and estimates the app will be especially popular in emerging markets where mobile connectivity is generally unstable and sharing apps are ‘wholeheartedly embraced’.

IMG_9396Chen Danian, WiFi Master Key founder, Chen Danian, once mentioned that globalization is a natural trait of the Sharing Economy, and the more internationalized a Sharing Economy is, the more vital it becomes. With this belief, WiFi Master Key is actively expanding its global footprint after achieving a substantial user base in China.
In less than seven months since the official overseas launch last September, WiFi Master Key has seen rapid growth across 223 countries and regions. On March 25, WiFi Master Key announced its global user base to have exceeded 800 million, while daily active users of their lately launched iOS version also exceeded the 10 million milestone.

According to WiFi Master Key, “the backbone of the strong growth has been both the continuous refinement of the product, and the increasing awareness of the Sharing Economy around the globe.”
