Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series makes Nigeria market debut January 23 

Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi Note 14 series will officially debut in the Nigerian market on January 23.

Xiaomi has announced that the Redmi Note 14 series will officially debut in the Nigerian market on January 23.

The launch will unveil the Xiaomi’s local pricing and availability details, offering Nigerian consumers access to the technology company’s latest mid-range smartphones.

The launch will unveil the Xiaomi’s local pricing and availability details, offering Nigerian consumers access to the technology company’s latest mid-range smartphones.  

Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series features advanced AI cameras

According to Xiaomi, the series includes five devices: Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro, Redmi Note 14 5G, and Redmi Note 14. These models aim to deliver “flagship-level features to a wider audience,” combining advanced camera systems, durability, and long-lasting battery life.  

Xiaomi says the Redmi Note 14 series is equipped with advanced AI camera systems. The Pro models include a 200MP camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), which the phone maker claims enables users to capture highly-detailed photos. 

Additionally, the Pro+ and Pro models offer 2x and 4x optical-grade zoom, as well as up to 30x digital zoom. The Redmi Note 14 Pro has 20x digital zoom.

The base models, Redmi Note 14 and Redmi Note 14 5G, feature a 108MP AI camera, which Xiaomi says “delivers vibrant colors and sharp detail, making high-quality photography accessible at every price point across the series.”

All models also have upgraded front cameras, with at least 20MP on every device. The Redmi Note 14 Pro stands out with its 32MP front camera on the smartphone.

Another standout feature highlighted by Xiaomi is the Redmi Note 14 series focus on durability. The Pro+ and Pro models feature a high-strength aluminum composite frame and extra protective materials for added drop resistance.

Xiaomi says that “the experience remains just as enjoyable when stepping outside, with the display on Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G featuring a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, significantly higher than the previous generation.”

The Pro models use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for extra scratch resistance, while the other models use Gorilla Glass 5. “The entire lineup,” Xiaomi adds, “has an optimised display to ensure increased responsiveness and accuracy to touch input, even in wet or oily conditions.” 

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance while other models have IP64 and IP54 ratings for splash and dust resistance.

The Pro+ 5G model features the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, a4nm octa-core processor from Qualcomm that was designed for mid-tier smartphones which provides Gen AI support, 200MP photo, 4K HDR video capture, and complete audio absorption, all backed by 5G and Wi-Fi connectivity, according to Qualcomm. The other models are equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra that supports 5G connectivity, and MediaTek Helio G100-Ultra chipsets. These processors are designed for multitasking, gaming, and streaming.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G also has a 5,110mAh battery with 120W HyperCharge technology. Xiaomi says that the, “Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G’s high-density battery also functions in temperatures as low as -20°C, delivering a reliable experience even in sub-zero environments.” The entire series includes long-cycle batteries that retain up to 80% of their capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, contributing to long-term reliability.

Xiaomi explains that the Smart Charging technology optimises the charging process to maintain battery health. The Pro models also have a quick start feature that allows devices to power up quickly after the battery is drained.

The Redmi Note 14 series features a 120Hz refresh rate display for smooth scrolling and gaming. The Pro models offer a 1.5K resolution display. Xiaomi says that “the experience remains just as enjoyable when stepping outside, with the display on Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G featuring a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, significantly higher than the previous generation.”

The displays are certified with TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications to reduce eye strain across all devices.

Pricing and availability

Nigerian prices are expected to reflect local taxes and import costs and will be announced during the launch event.  

The global prices are as announced by Xiaomi are follows:

  • Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G: $449
  • Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G: $399
  • Redmi Note 14 Pro: $299
  • Redmi Note 14 5G: $299
  • Redmi Note 14: $199

The devices will be available in multiple colours, including Midnight Black, Lavender Purple, Coral Green, and Frost Blue, depending on the model.
