Lagos. July 20, 2012: The International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the leading United Nations agency for ICT is offering social entrepreneurs aged 18-25 years the opportunity to shine a global spotlight on their innovative tech ideas and digital creativity.
The UN specialised agency says it is in search of the next generation of young visionaries and is organising a competition tagged ‘Young Innovators Competition’ at the ITU Telecom World 2012 event in Dubai from October 14-18, 2012.
The competition is designed for young who have innovative ICT-based concept or project, and is in need of resources for the project in order to globalise their innovative ideas and digital creativity, ITU says.
Young entrepreneurs from around the world have submitted innovative ICT-based early concepts or mature projects demonstrating how fresh thinking and talent for technology can provide real-world solutions to real-world problems and change the future for the better, according to ITU.
The outstanding entrepreneurs will be invited to join the key stakeholders from across the entire ICT industry ecosystem at ITU Telecom World 2012 to receive their prizes.
ITU says the participant could gain a host of exceptional benefits including up to 10,000 (N1,700,000) CHF in prize money, high level industry mentorship, hands on workshop training focusing on entrepreneurial skills, networking opportunities with high level delegates and a chance to showcase at the Innovator Space.
