Mr. Karl Toriola, MTN Nigeria CEO, today apologized to customers over last Saturday’s MTN Nigeria outage that crippled the service of the nation’s largest mobile network.
Last Saturday, MTN Nigeria mobile phone customers experienced difficulties with making and receiving calls following a network outage that affected the mobile phone operator’s service across parts of the country.
Toriola, who did not give the reason for the outage in a company video message, says the MNO takes its responsibility towards its customers to “stay connected to their loved ones, to manage their businesses and to coordinate their lives” very seriously, and is taking new measures to ensure that “we never experience anything like last Saturday again.”
As of August 2021, MTN Nigeria’s 73,133,330 active phone lines represented 38.70% of the mobile telephone (GSM) lines totaling 188,997,799, according to official data by the telecoms regulator.
“We all have challenges, each and every one of us, your or old, personally and professionally. What matters is how we respond”, Toriola says, promising that the mobile phone company will continue to improve.
